Terms of Use
Last updated: 1 November 2026
These terms apply to the Crumbs app and this website, offered by Aviles (Ruben Gonzalez Aviles), Zurich, Switzerland (“we”). By using Crumbs, you agree to them. If you got the app from the App Store, Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement applies as well.
The app
Crumbs helps you learn a language with short stories, word meanings and reviews. You can use it for free, with daily limits on reading and on new words. Crumbs+ removes these limits.
We keep improving Crumbs, so features and content can change. We do our best to keep it available, but we can’t promise it will always work without interruption.
Your account
The app creates an account for you automatically. You can sign in with Apple or Google to keep your progress across devices. You’re responsible for what happens with your account, and you can delete it at any time in the app (Settings → Delete account).
Crumbs+ subscriptions
- Crumbs+ is a subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play, at the price shown in the app before you buy.
- It renews automatically at the end of each period, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before. Your account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends.
- Free trial: if a trial is offered, you’re charged when it ends unless you cancel before. Any unused part of a trial ends when you buy a subscription.
- Cancel or manage your subscription in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Deleting the app or your Crumbs account doesn’t cancel it.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their rules.
- Prices can change. We’ll tell you in advance, and the store may ask you to agree.
Using Crumbs fairly
Please don’t misuse Crumbs: don’t try to break or overload it, get around its limits, access other people’s accounts, or copy its content in bulk (for example by scraping or automated downloads).
Content
The stories, illustrations, audio and the app’s design belong to us or our licensors. You may use them for your own learning, but not copy, sell or publish them.
Dictionary data is adapted from Wiktionary, available under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 licence.
Stories, translations and audio are created with care, partly with the help of AI tools. Mistakes can happen. If you find one, report it in the app; we’re grateful.
Liability
Crumbs is provided as it is. We’re liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, and as required by mandatory law. Otherwise, to the extent the law allows, we’re not liable for indirect damage, lost data or lost profits.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change matters, we’ll let you know in the app before it applies. If you keep using Crumbs afterwards, the new terms apply.
Law and courts
These terms are governed by Swiss law. Courts in Zurich, Switzerland, are competent, unless mandatory consumer law gives you the right to go to court where you live.
